LEICESTER have moved to replace Jack Thomas, who is taking a break from the sport, with talented youngster Joe Lawlor.

Manchester born Lawlor will make his full debut this weekend when the Watling JCB Lions face Berwick at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena on Sunday (4pm).

He appeared for the club in Friday’s heroic Knockout Cup effort against Eastbourne on Friday and impressed with his attitude.

“We’re going to give Joe a run in the side,” said boss Stewart Dickson. “He has a good attitude and he was mixing well with the rest of the team.

“We have been looking to do something to replace Jack and we will work with Joe to try and get the best out of him.

“It’s a big weekend for the team and we are looking for the Leicester public to come along and get right behind the team on Sunday.

“We need to keep picking up the points and the fans can make a difference.

“Joe is very keen to make a success of his opportunity with us and we wish him all the best.”
