LEICESTER’S Lion Cubs boss Dave Howard has immediately set his sights on Sunday’s return clash with Berwick Bullets after a 53-36 National Development League defeat at Shielfield.

Howard’s side are part of a bumper 30-heat programme at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena immediately after the senior teams meet in Championship action.

He said: "It's always disappointing to come away empty handed but we are looking forward to tomorrow (Sunday) on our own track, where it's a little bit of a specialist track, a bit like here.

“Obviously there were positives to be taken from tonight, especially Dan Thompson who led the way and Tom Spencer, it's only his third meeting and he hasn't had a single last place and was fully deserving of Heat 15 tonight.

"The young reserves struggled tonight but they can learn from that and move forward and take that into the rest of the season, starting tomorrow where we aim to turn the tables and get back to winning ways."

BERWICK 53: Leon Flint 11, Greg Blair 11, Ben Rathbone 8+3, Kyle Bickley 8, Mason Watson 6+1, Ryan MacDonald 6, Kieran Douglas 3+2.
LEICESTER 36: Dan Thompson 12+1, Tom Spencer 9+2, Joe Thompson 6+1, Joe Lawlor 5, Mickie Simpson 3, Kai Ward 1, Ben Trigger 0.
