LEICESTER gained revenge over Newcastle with a 63-27 win on home shale.

Stewart Dickson’s side had strength in every department to see off the Diamonds in fine style.

Skipper Kyle Howarth led by example with a stunning 15-point haul as the Watling JCB Lions hit back after defeat on Tyneside last weekend.

Ryan Douglas was impressive again with 11+1 and said: “It was a good win and a good team performance.

“In most meetings recently we’ve had one or two hiccups but it was good see everyone scoring some decent points and getting the win.”

Leicester made a blistering start with five heat advantages to put them 16 points up with just five races completed and there was little prospect of the visitors responding.

Newcastle put guest No.1 Tero Aarnio in as a tactical substitute in Heat 6 and he managed to stop the string of race advantages with a fine win.

Three straight heat wins before the interval put the victory beyond doubt for Leicester leading 45-21.

Nick Morris was impressive, the Thompson twins scored superbly and Tom Brennan was a fine guest.

LEICESTER 63: Kyle Howarth 15, Nick Morris 14, Ryan Douglas 11+1, Dan Thompson 10+2, Tom Brennan 7+2, Joe Thompson 6+3, Ty Proctor R/R.

NEWCASTLE 27: Tero Aarnio 10, Connor Mountain 5, Max Clegg 5, James Wright 4+1, Matthew Wethers 3, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn 0, Adam Roynon R/R
