LEICESTER suffered a disappointing 55-35 defeat in their first Championship away match of the season at Scunthorpe.
On a sad day for the sport, the Watling JCB Lions saw their impressive recent record at the Eddie Wright Raceway come to an end, at the hands of a home side inspired by former Leicester man Ryan Douglas.
The Lions return to action with Saturday’s high-profile home clash with title favourites Poole at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena (7pm).
The club will be paying tribute at that meeting to hugely respected writer and broadcaster Nigel Pearson, who sadly passed away on Friday.
