LEICESTER are set to start their 2023 season with this year’s Championship Jubilee League Final.

The Watling JCB Lions qualified for what was originally a three-team event alongside Poole and Glasgow, before the Tigers then pulled out of the competition.

Attempts to run the two-legged Final against the Pirates had to be put on hold because of the need to complete the league Grand Final between the clubs, which was postponed on several occasions.

It has now been confirmed that Leicester and Poole will meet in the CJL Final at the start of next season.

With the two clubs set to be in separate leagues, as the Lions are heading up to the Premiership, the Pirates will be permitted to strengthen to that level for those two meetings.

Further details on the 2023 season, including the overall league structure and the Lions’ own plans, are expected following the sport’s AGM next week.
