LEICESTER’S Joe Thompson has walked away from an horrific crash when racing for his Championship club Plymouth.
The incident happened in Heat 14 of the Gladiators’ trip to Scunthorpe on Friday, with Thompson in third place heading into the third bend but being collected from behind by the Scorpions’ Nathan Ablitt.
Both riders fell heavily with Thompson landing on his back whilst Ablitt went into the fence at speed.
Joe is reporting pain in his back and leg, and possibly some ligament damage, but thankfully it was not as bad as it could have been.
We’re awaiting an update on Nathan, who was disqualified by the referee, and Joe would like to send Nathan his best wishes.
Joe will be further assessed over the weekend with the Watling JCB Lions due at Birmingham in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership on Monday.
