FRICKE: BRING ON 2023!

AUSTRALIAN star Max Fricke is delighted with his new challenge at Leicester next season.

The 26-year-old was unveiled at the weekend as a major new signing for the Watling JCB Lions as they prepare to take on the challenge of the Premiership in 2023.

And having spent his entire top-flight career with Belle Vue so far, Fricke is relishing the chance to be part of the Lions’ new era.

With GB legend Chris Harris also a confirmed starter, the club have made clear their intentions to mount a serious play-off challenge next year.

Fricke said: “I’m happy to be a part of this team as they make their return to the Premiership – I have high hopes we can be a competitive force in the top league come next season.

“Now I just have to wait patiently to get the 2023 season underway.

“I’ve spent a long time at Belle Vue, and with Leicester moving back up to the Premiership league it’s an exciting opportunity for me.

“It’s great to see the management taking on the challenge of the top league, and so far the team is shaping up to be impressive.

“It’s been a while since I’ve ridden at Leicester so I’m looking forward to getting a go on this track again and working with the team to make 2023 a success.”

Response to the Lions’ two signings so far has been hugely positive, and work is continuing to build the strongest-possible overall line-up.

Boss Stewart Dickson has a 39-point limit to work with for his top six riders, with Fricke and Harris taking up 15.95 of that allocation. There will also be a Rising Star selected to complete the side.
