LEICESTER host King’s Lynn in a National Development Trophy fixture this Sunday (3pm) which will once again showcase the UK’s top young talent.
15-year-olds Will Cairns and Cooper Rushen along with 16-year-old Sonny Springer anchored the Fox Cubs to a win over Birmingham last week.
All three are on track again this Sunday but the difference is that Rushen, who rides for Leicester’s NDL team and appeared in the NDT last week as a guest, will be in opposition colours as King’s Lynn is his regular NDT club!
He’s part of a powerful looking Young Stars side who have won both of their matches so far, and who also include three teenagers with Championship experience – Jody Scott, Luke Harrison and Max Perry – in their top five.
There is mixed news on the injury front for the Fox Cubs, firstly with the boost that Ace Pijper is due back this weekend after missing the Bulls fixture with a shoulder problem.
His younger brother Stene has failed a fitness test on his own shoulder injury, and Mason Watson remains ruled out with his wrist injury,
Luke Harris comes in to guest whilst the Fox Cubs will now operate rider replacement for Stene as original guest Mickie Simpson suffered a crash at Edinburgh on Saturday.
Caydin Martin has elected to take a break from racing and is replaced by Owen Booth.
Manager Jen Crossland said: “It’s going to be a tough one especially with Cooper on the opposition team this time, and they are a strong team with lots of impressive youngsters.
“Ace being back is good news for us. We were delighted to get the first win for the Fox Cubs last week and hopefully we can build on that on Sunday.”
Gates open at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park at 1.30pm on Sunday with a reminder that Lions season ticket holders can gain entry for just £6. Regular admission prices are £15 adults, £13 concessions and £1 for children aged 6-17.

*LEICESTER Lion Cubs’ NDL match at Edinburgh, previously scheduled for July 11, is to be re-arranged as the Monarchs now require that date for a Championship fixture.
