LEICESTER will face Sheffield in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership play-offs – with the first leg at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park.
The Watling JCB Lions will stage the opener on Monday September 15 (7.30pm) with the return at Owlerton on Thursday September 18.
Lions were already guaranteed second or third place in the table, with the inclement weather this week putting paid to both their own fixture at Oxford on Thursday and Sheffield’s home match against Ipswich 24 hours earlier.
The Sheffield postponement also locked them into second or third place at cut-off time, and the Tigers then pulled off a shock 47-43 victory at Foxhall on Thursday to move into second place at the cut-off time.
That gave them choice of legs for the semi-final, and they unsurprisingly elected to take the second leg at Owlerton, meaning the tie will kick off in the East Midlands.
Belle Vue and Ipswich stage their semi-final next week, and a date is also awaited for the Lions to return to Oxford in the final regular league fixture.
