KING'S LYNN 45 LION CUBS 45

LEICESTER Lion Cubs were involved in a dramatic contest at King’s Lynn on Wednesday with the meeting ending in a 45-45 draw.

Freddy Hodder inflicted the only defeat of the meeting on Jake Mulford in Heat 15 as the Lion Cubs levelled the scores to take some reward from a topsy-turvy encounter.

They roared into a ten-point lead after five races, helped by falls and retirements for the home side with guest Ashton Vale combining with Ryan Ingram for a 5-1 in Heat 3, whilst Hodder and Spencer did likewise two races later.

But the hosts hit back strongly with three 5-1s in the next four races as they operated injury rider replacement for Dan Gilkes.

After Heat 10 it was 32-28 to the Young Stars but Vale and Seth Norman combined for a 5-1 in Heat 12 to bring the match level once more.

Home duo Simon Lambert and Mulford took maximum points in Heat 13 which seemed to have settled the encounter, but the Lion Cubs took it to a last race decider as Ingram won Heat 14 with Norman in third ahead of Ollie Binns.

And with Hodder superbly winning Heat 15 with Vale third as Lambert retired, the Lion Cubs were able to come away with a league point.

They continue their away schedule with a trip to Middlesbrough on Friday, with a reminder that Sunday’s match at Buxton is off.

KING'S LYNN 45: Jake Mulford 15+2, Simon Lambert 11, Ollie Binns 9+1, Mickie Simpson 8+1, Kyran Lyden 2, Dan Gilkes 0, Casper Kluczniak 0
