LION Cubs No.1 Freddy Hodder has undergone surgery after suffering a broken leg in the Czech Republic on Saturday.
The unfortunate Hodder was the victim of a crash in his second ride during the prestigious Golden Ribbon event at Pardubice.
Taking avoiding action to miss fallen rider Petr Kvech and his machine, which had come down directly in his path, Hodder hit the fence hard and the injury was almost immediately diagnosed by medical staff at the track. X-rays later confirmed a clean break of the femur.
It means he will miss the Lion Cubs’ final two matches but after surgery on Saturday night Hodder is already setting his sights on the future.
He said: “The focus turns completely to recovering and getting myself back to full fitness.
“It’s obviously a tough one to take, especially after what had been a positive season, but I’ll be doing everything I can to come back stronger.
“A massive thank you to Leon Flint, Lubos Vracek, my dad and everyone else who has helped and supported me. It genuinely means a lot.”
