TWO members of Leicester’s 2026 team have finished top of supporters’ polls at the end of the Premiership season.
Watling JCB Lions’ No.1, flying Ryan Douglas, took the honours in the Rider of the Season category with 36% of the vote.
Douglas emulates former skipper Max Fricke who won the equivalent award in 2025, with Douglas beating off Brady Kurtz, Josh Pickering and Jason Doyle.
Meanwhile reserve Joe Thompson was voted Rising Star of the Season with 28% of the vote which featured all six riders in that category.
Thompson achieved the highest average of any Rising Star this year, and his progression was also noted in the Most Improved Rider category where he finished third, behind Kye Thomson and Tate Zischke.
