LEICESTER co-promoter Stewart Dickson says team planning for the 2027 season is at an advanced stage.
The Watling JCB Lions enjoyed another successful year as they retained the Premiership KO Cup and reached the play-offs for the third campaign in succession – coming within a Super Heat of making it to the Grand Final once more.
The top prize of the league title continues to elude them but the club’s ambitions are again set high and they should be in a position to announce initial signings next week as they close in on completing the full septet.
Dickson said: “Myself, Jen (Crossland) and Paul (Cairns) have all been busy, really ever since the play-off semi-final, and we’re pleased with how things are coming together.
“We’re all agreed on the best way forward and as I’ve said all along, the aim is always to put a Leicester team on track which will challenge for major honours.
“You never know what’s going to happen when you get to semi-finals and finals, but our record over recent years stands up with the other top clubs and we want that to continue.
“Due to illness at the end of the season I haven’t been able to do too much talking, which probably will please some people, but Jen and Paul have put in a great deal of work to get what we wanted over the line, and it shows the strength we have behind the scenes at Leicester.
“I can assure everyone I’ll be back and raring to go next season, and whilst I’ve seen several rumours of what we’re doing, all I can say for now is we think the supporters will be pleased with the line-up.”
The club plan to put 2027 season tickets on sale by the end of November, and full details will be available in due course.
